ShopMobility UK - Driving Mobility

ShopMobility UK

ShopMobility UK is a nationwide scheme that enables people with limited mobility to access shops and leisure facilities within a town, city or shopping centre.

ShopMobility UK is a nationwide scheme that enables people with limited mobility to access shops and leisure facilities within a town, city or shopping centre. It provides an affordable, short-term loan of manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, and scooters. Some schemes also offer the booking of accessible parking spaces.  Visit the ShopMobility UK website at ShopMobility UK

Each scheme is different so you should make contact with the scheme organisers in your town or shopping centre to check costs, availability and range of scooters or wheelchairs. Not all schemes operate every day of the week so you should also check opening days and times.

You must pre-book a scooter or wheelchair, and first time users will usually be required to complete a training session covering how to use the equipment and familiarisation with the town or shopping centre. Once training has been completed, you are then free to use the equipment in the designated area for the booked loan period.

Costs

Costs to loan equipment differs between area/scheme varying between:

  • No charge providing users are in receipt of a blue badge and can provide ID.
  • Affordable annual scheme membership cost with unlimited use of equipment after this.
  • Pay per booking.

Finding a ShopMobility UK Scheme

ShopMobility UK Schemes are well signposted via their logo in town or shopping centres. Your local County Council should also be able to advise you on schemes within the area.

There may be a Transport Hub near you which could help and offer advice and guidance.
